Mass on the Octave of Christmas (January 1) will be at 10:30am.

Mass on January 2 will be followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction.

A plenary indulgence may be gained by publicly saying or singing the Te Deum in thanksgiving on the last day of the year (December 31). A plenary indulgence may also be gained by publicly saying or singing the Veni Creator Spiritus on the first day of the year, January 1.

“And His name shall be called the Angel of Great Council.” We prepare for the coming of Christ during the Advent season. During Christmastide we experience the great joy of His Incarnation-the greatest event ever to take place in the history of the world! “As many as received Him He gave them power to be made Sons of God” (Saint John). When we unite our human souls to Christ Incarnate we share in His divinity.

Let us worship Christ and adore God His Father. The birth of Christ is the beginning of our redemption through grace to the supernatural life.

Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary knew full well who Jesus their Son was, however, they were in awe of the way God was revealing Him. We too must contemplate the mysteries in the life of Jesus Christ, but during Christmas we especially focus on how Christ chose to be born.

God willed that the Blessed Virgin Mary be intimately linked to the redemptive work of Christ! She shared in His sufferings through the pain that pierced her soul as Christ suffered for our sins. It is those sins that forged the sword that would pierce her heart. We therefore have a duty to atone for our sins to the Blessed Virgin as well as to God Himself. She is our Mother as well as His!

Pot-luck dinner Sunday, April 27 following the 2:30pm Mass. This is Divine Mercy Sunday. A plenary indulgence is granted to those who take part in the prayers and devotions held in honor of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or in the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the Merciful Lord Jesus (e.g., "Merciful Jesus, I trust in You!"). If unable to get to church for the above, one may gain the same indulgence be reciting the Our Father and the Creed before a devout image of Our Merciful Lord Jesus Christ and, in addition, praying a devout invocation to the Merciful Lord Jesus Christ.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be sung immediately following Mass today.

Saint Paul speaks of the greatness, the dignity and the duty of the Christian priest. He is a minister of Christ and the instrument of Christ. The priest is “another Christ.” A priest is appointed steward of the mysteries of God for the benefit of the mystical body of Christ. Pope Pius XI writes the following regarding the office of the priesthood: “The Christian, at almost every important state of his mortal career, finds as his side the priest with power received from God, for the purpose of communicating or increasing that grace which is the supernatural life of his soul.”

Sunday, December 8th is the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Your prayers are requested for those who will be making their Total Consecration to Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin Mary during Mass on this day.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was conceived by the Holy Ghost without any stain of original sin. Mary has therefore been distinguished by the grace of God as the holiest of all the saints. She has been set apart by God from the rest of mankind as God’s perfect and sinless creature. The Blessed Virgin’s glory and majesty are due to her sinlessness. The graces she stored up while she walked upon this earth were infinite. These graces elevated her to Queen of heaven and earth and of all the saints! Mary has never been under Satan’s power. We should therefore pray to God through her that we too never succumb to the devil’s influence. “O Queen conceived without original sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!”

Out of sheer love God has created us with a free will. He wants us to choose for Him and He calls us to liberty. The wonder of the Christmas season and the grace of our redemption shine forth in the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Word made flesh used to speak to us through the prophets, but now God has sent His Son in person in order to reveal Himself completely and to save the world!

Christ became like us in all things but sin. He ate, drank and slept. He suffered and died to redeem us and thus strengthens us when we ourselves meet with adversity. When we accept Jesus Christ our entire being gains immortality! If we acknowledge Him while we live on this earth He will in turn acknowledge us before God His Father.

God has created us in His own image, thus we possess great dignity. We must turn our hearts to God without hesitation. Christ has taken away our sin. We must obey Him and keep His commandments if we wish Him to honor us.
