The Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ...

Epiphany means the Manifestation of God. Jesus Christ is God and Lord of the entire world! The star appears in the East, the water is changed into wine at the wedding feast of Cana, and tomorrow Jesus is Baptized in the Jordan by John..."This is my beloved Son," says the voice from heaven. All these miracles help us to recognize the Child Jesus as our God and King. They help us to adore Him with greater faith!

"We are the people of Your pasture and the sheep of your hand." (Psalm 94). Jesus reveals Himself to the world. We must beg Him to reveal Himself more and more to our own souls!

Ripperger is a Theologian, Thomistic Psychologist, Philosopher, Seminary Professor and Author. Fr. Ripperger will be speaking here at St. Agnes Cathedral (Pallotti Center) the first weekend in June. Now is the season after Pentecost! It begins with the Feast of the Blessed Trinity and is the longest of the Liturgical year. In this last part of the ecclesiastical year, the Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, continues the work of Redemption...”The Holy Ghost, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind whatsoever I shall have said to you.”

This last season of the Liturgical Year is filled with feasts of major importance: those of the Blessed Trinity, Corpus Christi, the Sacred Heart, the Assumption and Nativity of Our Lady, All Saints and All Souls!

“Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen!”

Mass on Friday, November 7th will be followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and benediction.

There will be a pot-luck dinner on Sunday, November 9th in the school cafeteria immediately following the 2:30pm Mass. This will include an All Saints day party.

All Saints Day is a holy day of obligation in the Universal Church; since it falls on Saturday in the U.S., the precept to attend Mass is abrogated by the USCCB.

The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls. On all the days from November 1 through November 8 inclusive, a plenary indulgence, applicable only to the Poor Souls, is granted to those who visit a cemetery and pray, even in only mentally, for the departed. Partial indulgences are granted to those who recite Lauds or Vespers of the Office of the Dead, and to those who recite the prayer “Requiem aeternam dona eis Domini, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace” (“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace”).

All indulgences whatsoever may be applied to the Poor Souls at any time by way of suffrage. The simple intention to offer them for the Poor Souls is sufficient.

Saint Paul always exhorts us to give thanks to God! God has made us worthy to partake of the lot of the saints in light! What more could we ask for?! Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have been delivered from satan's grasp and the power of darkness. We have so much to be grateful for because our destiny is to be with God in heaven forever. Since we have been redeemed through the Blood of Jesus Christ and received remission of all our sins we rejoice!

Christ is King. He is head of the body of the Church. He is King of the universe. God has reconciled all things unto Himself through Jesus Christ. God has made peace through the Blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross both on earth and in heaven.

Is Jesus Christ your King? When Pilate asked Jesus if He was a king Jesus answered: “For this was I born, and for this came I into the world, that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth My voice.” This voice of Christ is spoken through the hierarchy of the Church. If Christ is truly our king, we listen and adhere totally to His Church's teachings. If we do not, we deny our king.

June 2, 2013 External Solemnity of Corpus Christi

“May our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored, and loved, with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time!”
“O Sacrament most holy! O Sacrament divine! All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine!”

On the Feast of Corpus Christi we are reminded of our duty to worship and glorify Jesus Christ and His true presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Our lives must be such as to bring other souls to Jesus Christ! We must take advantage of every available opportunity to adore Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at Saint Agnes Cathedral on Sunday, June 2. Confessions will be heard from 1:45pm until 2:15pm and immediately following Mass and Benediction until all confession are heard.

Friday, June 7, 2013 is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A plenary indulgence may be gained by saying the Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus publicly in front of the Blessed Sacrament on this day.

The Feast of the Holy Family offers us a chance to reflect upon God’s eternal truths and the true meaning of life. We are a pilgrim people and the true home we were born for is in heaven. In this world filled with temptation and the pride of life we must learn the great value of silence. We should ask God for the gift of meditation and reflect upon that which is spiritual. We should pray each day for a well-ordered and disciplined life of prayer. We must first be rooted deeply in Christ if we hope to fulfill our duty as Christians to bring Him into a world where so many are in desperate need of His grace.

The Feast of the Holy Family should also help us to understand the importance of family life. The family is the basic unit of society. However, it is rapidly deteriorating and in many places almost completely vanquished from our culture. The family is the context in which children were meant to be raised.

We should also reflect upon the value of work. Jesus Christ chose to become the Son of a carpenter. He was never too proud to embrace an honest day’s work. Saint Paul writes in his Epistle: “All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by Jesus Christ our Lord.” We should put all our hearts into everything we do and do all for love of God alone. If we can truly say that love of God is our motivation then we are on the path to holiness.
